Joe Phillips; filed 7-22: “I fished Pymatuning on 7-16, trolling for walleye out of Jame-
stown. I tried worm harnesses, Storm Hot-n-Tots and Rapala Minnows. The catfish were
on fire! Most were between 12 and 17 inches. Biggest one was 24 inches – see photo. No
other fish were caught.” (See Livewell photo)

Darl @ Fishing with Darl Black Guide Service; filed 7-17: “On the 15th, Leroy Karns and his
uncle enjoyed a morning afloat catching Pymatuning crappies with Bobby Garland Swim-
ming Minnows; the trip was a present from his wife. On the 16th, Mike Rykaczeski Sr. and
his son Mike – both from Butler – made their first trip to Pymatuning for a tutoring session
about the lake. They had been fishing Lake Arthur but were disappointed with what they
could catch. Although number of fish caught was not high, we managed to catch six spe-
cies including crappies larger than any they had caught on Arthur. They also like the scen-
ery of the lake, and the fact there were fewer boats than they encounter on Arthur. As a
result of the trip, Mike said they would be making the longer drive to fish Pymatuning
more often.” (See photos above)

Canadohta Lake
Jerry @ Timberland Bait; filed 7-25: “The walleye bite is on at Canadohta – finally! Pulling
crawler harnesses along the outside of cabbage beds has been producing nice catches.
Customers are also reporting nice panfish catches from both Union City Dam and Union
City Reservoir. Don’t forget, you can pick up my top quality live bait at Slocum’s in Spartan-
burg and Saegertown Hardware in Saegertown. Also, I have started self-serve bait on the
back porch of my Timberland Bait shop for times we are not open. You can pick up mag-
gots, wax worms, mealworms and red worms from the refrigerator and leave the money in
the box. We will be having our annual Kids Fishing Derby at the pond by the Shop on Au-
gust 13. Fishing is from 6 pm to 8 pm with bonfire and cookout when done. Pond rules ap-
ply. Entry fee is $5.00. Bring the kids for a great time!”
