Chris Wolfgong (Oil City); filed 8-20: I fished with Dale Black and my cousin Ed Wolfgong
today from about 8 am to noon. It was a slow day on the river, catching only a handful of
fish. Smallies came from fast water on crayfish style bait – Yum Craw Pappi – or on tubes.
Also had one bass take a Fluke drifted through the riffles. The trophy catch of the day was
a blacknose dace that somehow got hooked on my jig. (See Chris’ photos below)
Bill Logan (Pleasantville)
- 8-17: After several days of thunderstorms, the river water was too thick to fish but
too thin to plow. Less than foot of visibility. In three hours, I caught one small pike
from a weedbed.
- 8-9: Got a big walleye today. Measured 27 inches. It hit
swimbait. I also caught 5 bass. (See photo)
- 8-8: I caught bass! I landed six smallmouths and lost two –
all on Rapala jerkbaits. Had a nice musky follow on a glide
bait. I covered 10 miles of river.
