VENANGO COUNTY
Bill @ Griffins Bait & Tackle; filed 6-13: “Sugar Creek is still producing some nice trout,
with Buck and Joshua Gindy picking up two nice Palominos. Mike Gabriel of Souderton, PA
picked up a nice drum while fishing the Allegheny River. Alex Tafoya caught a largemouth
bass while fishing a private pond near Cooperstown.” (Photos above)
John Conroy; filed 5/26: “Here are photos of
two nice brown trout caught and released in
East Sandy Creek. We accessed the creek from
Sandy Creek Trail. One pic is my son Forrest
Conroy and the other pic is me with a brown.
Beautiful fish!”

Steve Udick (Oil City); filed 6-13: “Jim Allen and I got out Tuesday the 7th. What a beautiful
day! Wind has been a problem all spring, but we found a soft spot. I landed a big 20-1/4”
female smallmouth on a firetiger Jitterbug. Three casts later, Jim landed a nice 17-1/4”
smallie on a black Jitterbug. We caught a few on tubes, but most fish came on topwater
lures.”
Pete @ SmalliesontheYough.com; filed 6-13: “We fished the Allegheny River on Friday.
The river was perfect. The fish seemed scattered around; the bite was soft. We used soft
plastics from 412 Bait Co. to land 12 smallies. The biggest was 16 inches and a few showed
signs of the recent spawn.”
Keith Eshbaugh @ Dutch Fork Lures; filed 6-9: “Joining me today to fish the 3 Rivers Pool
at Pittsburgh was Jason Hagg of Franklin. We landed nine walleye from 14 to 16 inches;
two wipers around 2-3 lbs. each, three sauger and one BIG buffalo – all on jig-n-plastic.
Most of the fish were in 12 to 18 feet of water; there is a ton of bait in the river.”
