Dan @ Elk Creek Sports; filed 5/23: “Some real nice smallmouth bass in Elk Creek, plus
still a good number of brown trout. No reports of catfish moving into Elk Creek so far.
Walleye at night is the big thing – if you can find a calm night to get out. I had report of
perch at 42 to 50 feet straight out of Walnut.”

Denny @ Trout Run; filed 5/23: “The word from our customers – walleyes at night on
the shore and perch at 40 feet.”

Zac @ Northeast Marina; filed 5/23: “Lake trout down between 45 and 50 feet in the 1st
60 and 2nd 60; baits are Spin-n-Glow and spoons. Smallmouth bass are in 8 to 18 feet at
Freeport to the W’s.”

Shenango Lake
Yes Virginia, there are two-pound crappies in Shenango River Lake!

The Crappie Camp Crew hit Shenango River Lake on Thursday, May 19. Although focus-
ing on crappies (including several in the 1.5 to 2 pound range), they caught a number of
species on light line: white bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye and a re-
spectable northern pike on 2 pound test line.

Kevin Austin (Farrell); filed 5/10: “I caught this 15 inch crappie at
Shenango today, fishing a 1/32 ounce jighead with white/
chartreuse body in three feet of water.” Editor’s note: Nice fish!

Vicki @ Fergies; filed 5/23: “Crappies are being caught from the shore. Walleyes are
hitting from the causeway to Launch #4. On the 20th, we had a 31 inch walleye reported;

taken on a Rapala.”
