Steven Knebel; filed 5/22: “I fished Pymatuning last week and
oh yeah! The walleye bite is on! Keyed in on the shad spawning
areas of the lake, including points, pockets and submerged is-
lands – looking for areas to fish with abundance of baitfish –
targeting early morning shad spawn bite. Attached photo of
25” and 27” walleyes taken on blade jigs. Many walleyes were
caught.” (See photo on right)

Jim McClave (Andover); filed 5/9: “I’m having fair to good success on crappies near
Jamestown Marina in a few spots with good structure. Jigging a minnow near the bottom
between 12 and 20 feet of water is producing. We have better luck when the wind is not
blowing out of the north. Also, I am enjoying success on some crappies and white bass
towards evening just south of the causeway.” (See photo in Livewell)

Editor’s Note: A nasty invasive weed called hydrilla was found in Pymatuning Lake over a
year ago. In an attempt to prevent spread of hydrilla to other area lakes and prevent ad-
ditional invasive vegetation into Pymatuning, DCNR is conducting an educational cam-
paign which includes boat checks at ramps around Pymatuning to advise boaters to clean
their boats of any weed debris and clean/flush livewells.

Woodcock Creek Lake & Canadohta Lake
Jerry @ Timberland Bait; filed 5/23: “The hot bite right now is Woodcock Creek Lake
walleyes. Customers are catching good numbers there. Also, the crappies and bluegills
are going crazy at Canadohta Lake in the ‘Lagoon’ section of the lake.”
