mentioned as well as Gamma Line can be purchased at Hill’s Country
Store in Williamsfield, OH. A personal request from Hooker, with fish
committed to the spawn right now please resist the urge to keep
every fish you catch. We have a gem of a resource here and it needs
to be protected. Thanks, Hooker.”

Laurie @ Duck-N-Drake; filed 5/23: “We had reports of strong crap-
pie and walleye catches last week, but a slow down over the recent Hooker’s Clients
weekend. Last week customers were catching walleye in 17 to 20 feet
on Rapala Shad Raps and Berkley Flicker Shads. I just had a report this morning of wall-
eyes taken over the weekend in 3 feet of water by drifting with jig and crawler. Don’t for-
get, I’ll be running two catfish tournaments this summer; stop in for details.”

Russ @ Gateway Tackle; filed 5/23: “Our customers are picking up crappies around Clark
Islands and the North Stumps. There was a 31-inch ‘eye report from near Clark Island.
Shore anglers are catching crappies and white bass off the Andover-Espyville Causeway.
Bluegills are moving shallow. I’ve heard of a 55-inch musky taken in the South End and a
50-inch musky taken around the OH Causeway Bridge.”
Patty @ Poff’s Place; filed 5/23: “There’s no doubt that fish catches are picking up as the
water finally climbs into the 60s. Expect the crappie and walleye bite to improve this com-
ing week as weather stabilizes and temperatures climb.”

Sydney @ Robinson’s Bait; filed 5/23: “It has begun. We have numerous reports of limit
catches of walleyes. Whether you are trolling south of the Harris Island stumps with
Hot’n’Tots, Flicker Shads or warm harnesses/crawler, or drifting from Clark Island toward
Tuttle Point with Water Puppets and minnows, or anchored down bobber fishing near Red
Cross, the walleyes are hitting. Crappie and perch are being taken in the Harris Island
stump field; female crappies still have eggs. As the water warms back up, look for crappies
in the shallows as the spawn is not done yet. Catches of catfish have been reported in the
channel south of Clark Island, and bass are hitting in the lily pads near Black Jack Swamp.
Check out catch photos below from Jake Fordyce, Nick Morocco
and Paul Hellman of Someday Isle Tackle.”
