MERCER COUNTY

        Lake Wilhelm
Marci @ Wilhelm Marina and Snack Bar; filed 5/22: Anglers are catching crappies all over the

lake in decent numbers. I went out yesterday for crappies down by the dam. Tried jigs – noth-
ing; tried minnows – nothing. Then we tolled Hot-n-Tots for walleyes and caught the heck out
of crappies! Many had not spawned; I returned the ones full of eggs to the lake, but still took
home 11 crappies over 10 inches. I did have one customer he caught several 15 to 19 inch wall-
eyes on a jig-n-crawler; that has been the only walleye report.

Rick Como (Sharpsville); filed 5/21: Crappies and walleyes are hitting
on Shenango. I got a mess of nice white crappies on Sunday. Last Tues-
day as part of the PA Crappie Camp event, I had the pleasure to take
Mark McQuown of Garmin Electronics out on Shenango. We caught
several walleyes. (See more photos on special Crappie Camp Shenango

         Rick Como’s crappie catch

Ken Smith (Sharon); filed 5/21: I had the opportunity to take a great crappie angler from Okla-
homa out on Shenango last Tuesday. George Toalson of Bobby Garland Crappie Baits was in
town for PA Crappie Camp. We had a good time casting to brushpiles up the Shenango Arm. So
much going on right now it’s hard to decide where to fish! (See photos on special Crappie Camp
        Shenango Page)

Randy @ Fish West PA; filed 5/19: With the rising temperatures, She-

nango Lake has turned on. A lot of fish are shallow either feeding or
spawning. Hybrids, Bass, Crappies and other panfish as well as Pike and
Catfish all being caught. Reports are that bigger than normal size crap-
pies being taken this season so far. Now is the time to get out, enjoy the
beautiful weather and catch a few! (See photos)

Scott Selle; filed 5/17: Here is a pic of my son Rob with another nice Crap-
pie from Shenango Lake last Friday. The bite was light on a cold day, but
we caught them on Cabela’s Swim Crappie Minnow with slow retrieve.
Rob also caught a largemouth on Keitech Swim Bait rigged with a spinner
blade. (See additional photo in Livewell)
