Kirk @ East End Angler; filed 5/22: Wow! There is a long list of hot
bites right now! Believe it or not – there are still a few steelheads
in the streams. On the East side, anglers are catching walleye from
shore at night with long minnow plugs near mouths of 12, 16 and
20 Mile Creeks. Bass are on fire in 6 to 15 feet of water in the lake.
Perch are spotty in the Lake around 41 to 55 feet – catches not
                                                                                     East End Angler photo
consistent and no limits. But out near the Mountain the Lake Trout
are being caught – both inside and outside the Mountain. On Sun-
day we were trolling in 95 feet of water catching 12 to 15 pound
trout near the NY line. Green spoons on Dipsey Divers worked
best. Crappies are being caught in good numbers at Eaton Reser-
voir in the evenings. (See photos on right)

Dan @ Elk Creek Sports; filed 5/22: Still some smallmouth in Elk East End Angler photo

Creek but they are on the way out, and rock bass and catfish are coming
in. Due to all the northeast winds, shore water and creek water still cooler
than normal and weird as it seems, there are still a few steelhead in Elk.
There hasn’t been much of a night walleye bite along the shore due to the
wind, but they are picking some up by trolling in the evening from Walnut
east to the Peninsula in 12 to 15 feet of water. Perch are spotty.

Captain Mark Rose @ BassOnLine; filed 5/22 from the Lake: My clients

are catching the heck out of smallmouth right now. Today we have several
over five pounds already. Best bait is Galida’s Grubz in the following col-
                                                                                             East End Angler
ors: Skipjack, Chartreuse, Izzy and Top Secret. We put them on a 1/8 or ¼
ounce jighead and retrieve very slowly. (See photo right)

Scott Selle; filed 5/21: Rob and I went to PIB in search of smallmouth Bass
                   th
on the 20 . The weather was unstable and very windy. However, we man-
aged to boat a few smallies. I caught 7 and Rob got 9. The bite was light. We
caught them on either a Gitzit Tube or a Z-Man Ned Rig. Attached is picture
of one of mine. (see photo in Livewell)

        Edinboro Lake
                                                                                               Mark Rose’s photo
Dave Horvath (Edinboro); filed 5/20: Anglers at Edinboro are reporting good
panfish bite in the Fingers. Bluegills are on the beds. Spoke to one angler
who spent many hours chasing muskies – caught one. Mallory Run received last stocking of

trout…fishing was great until the rains came.
