MERCER COUNTY
Lake Wilhelm
Angler Al (Franklin); filed 3-1-17: My brother Steve was home from
California last week. He did an exceptionally good job at catching pan-
fish and crappies over in the stumps at Lake Wilhelm. His daughter
Anna joined him on one of those unbelievable pleasant February
days. Teardrop jigs, ants or just plain #8 hook tipped with a maggot
and suspended 3 to 4 feet below an indicator worked great. (See Pho-
to)

Shenango Lake
Ken Smith (Sharon); filed 3-1-17: Taking advantage of the nice weather
during past week, I fished Shenango Lake from shore to catch a mess of
crappies for dinner. (See photo)
Editor’s note: Fishing Report contributor Tyler
Shaffer caught this northern pike in February
Ken’s catch in the river below Shenango Dam. This was
his last pike from the Shenango River this sea-
son. He has moved to Florida to become a saltwater flats guide.
Good luck Tyler! (See photo)

bait, I decided to float a large nightcrawler in a deep pool on Sugar
