RJ Graham @ Graham Jigs

- Jan 22: With no safe ice on area lakes, I headed to the river to-

day. I got my limit of walleyes and released six smaller ones. All

on blades.

- Feb 12: I fished the river yesterday. Got six walleyes. All on

blades. River is flowing hard and dirty.

                                                                     RJ selfie

- Jan 19: Attached is a picture of Chris Damon of Oil City. He

got this 14.2 pound walleye in the river at Tionesta on Dec

29.

- Feb 2: My fishing buddy, Jim Allen, got this 29 inch hawg ‘eye

the other evening on a Rapala Regal color SR7 Shad Rap. It

was way out in the current tin 8 to 1 feet of water. It struck

on his second pull on the lure, making us think the fish was

high in the water column. It’s the biggest I’ve seen from our Damon’s 14.2 pound ‘eye

usual winter fishing spots in many years.

LATE WINTER WALLEYE FISHING FROM SHORE

By Darl Black

It’s Mid-February and anglers are biting at the bit while
thinking about spring fishing. Although you may be contem-
plating when to get your boat out of storage (remember, we
might get a lot of snow in early March), do not overlook
open water opportunities for walleyes RIGHT NOW that do
                                   not require a boat!

During the late winter, walleyes are usually in transition from winter areas to spawning
areas – in both rivers and lakes. The spawn typically begins when water temperature
reaches the mid-40s.

While the walleye season closes March 14th on inland waters and Lake Erie; Pymatuning
Lake offers year-round walleye fishing. So between RIGHT NOW and March 14th, there
are several very good inland water sites in NW PA Fishing Report area to fish for walleyes.
Starting on the 15th of March, the focus turns solely to Pymatuning.
