                                 Spring jumbo perch starting

Darl Black; filed 2/13: I stopped by Dobbin’s Landing on PIB over the weekend. I observed
about 15 angles on the dock fishing for perch. Not everyone was catching them, but some
were – and one fisherman had a number of jumbo perch. Emerald shiners were the pre-
ferred bait. (See photos above)

Paul Stewart (Butler); filed 1/23: Went for perch this past Saturday (Jan 22) to the Bay.
Weather was great and water was ice-free, but the catching wasn’t happening. Only 5
perch for two of us. (See photo)

Erie Tributaries

Gary @ Poor Richards; filed 2/13: Most steelheads are high in the streams, where some
anglers are catching them between the high, dirty water flows. A few fresh steelhead
came into Elk and Walnut over the weekend. Elk in good shape but East side streams are
low and clear.

Becky @ Elk Creek Sports; file 2/13: Over this past weekend anglers had some good fish-
ing. But by Monday, streams came up and got muddy. However, looking at long range
forecast, with temperature rising and no rain, this coming weekend could be very good on
Elk.

Bill Logan (Pleasantville)
   - Jan 19: Caught one on a Wooly Bugger at Elk Creek. Water was high and stained.
The trick was getting a selfie ready with one hand while
       fighting fish with the other.
   - Jan 24: I walked a mile on Elk on Monday and saw a doz-
en fish total. All observed steelheads were in spawn
mode due to warm temps - except one. No hits. I did
however, take a brownie on Sunday in Caldwell Creek and
missed another. Also saw a spring peeper out already.

                                                                                                                Logan selfie
