Vickie @ Fergie’s Bait; filed 10-23: The lake water is still too warm
for a good fall bite. But we are hearing a few walleyes being caught
down lake as well as crappies around the Marina.

        Shenango Lake
Randy @ Fish West Pa; filed 10-23: All species in Shenango are on
an evening bite, especially bass. Had a good weekend with friends
catching some nice smallmouth bass on the most beautiful lake on Fish West Pa photo

Rick Como (Sharpsville); filed 10-23: Fishing at Shenango is still very
hot for white bass and hybrid stripers during this extended warm spell.

Lots of fish schooled up and feeding at various times of the day. With
the approaching cold front, there will a drop in fish activity for a while.
But the bite will improve later in fall when the real cold water period
arrives. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are
hitting right now as well, along with crappies.
Walleyes are still elusive but should improve when
                              water temperature drops. (See photos)

Ken Smith (Sharon); filed 10/21: My buddy Reu-
ben Austin fished Shenango with me today. Wind
was up and would not let me fish the spots I had Julie Como
planned. So we fish fished some spots out of the
Reuben Austin wind. Bobby Garland Baby Shads and Southern Pro Triple Tails worked for
us. Put thirty good crappies in the box for him. (See photos)

        VENANGO COUNTY

        Justus Lake
Angler Al (Franklin); filed 10-21: From 3 pm to 6 pm on a most splen-
did day for mid-fall, I slow trolled large creek minnows just outside of

what’s left of the accentuated week zone behind the beach area on
Justus Lake. It didn’t take long to catch 10 largemouth bass. Four of
them met the legal size of 15 inches. I then proceeded to an area I usu-
ally catch a good number of bluegill. On this occasion the gills weren’t
taking small pieces of nightcrawler as quickly as they did earlier in sea-
son. I did however manage a half dozen or so plus one 12 inch perch.
Brought those panfish and two of the bass home for stocking in my Angler Al on Justus Lake
        pond. (See photo)
