Darl Black: On Monday, October 16, my buddy Ken Smith called to see if I could come to She-
                           th
nango on the 17 to run the camera boat for another fishing friend Russ Bailey and his Brush-
pile Fishing crew. Russ was going to tape a show with Ken about crappie fishing on Shenango.
They had been trying to get this one done for almost two years. If you are a crappie fisherman,
you are likely familiar with the Brushpile Fishing show. Russ Bailey and the crew travel across
the US to film fishing for various species – although crappies are most often the target. Perhaps
you saw the Brushpile Fishing episode last year with Russ fishing with Gamma Line president
Dale Black on Pymatuning Lake for crappies in the spring. Gamma Line is a sponsor of the

        show.
Back to Shenango…I was available and jumped at the chance to help friends and to assist in
promoting fishing in our area. On a very cold Tuesday morning with blue skies and a nippy
breeze, Ken put on a post-cold front clinic for Russ by utilizing Ken’s famed Hang Gliding tech-
nique. Russ and the film crew were pleased with how smoothly the taping went and with how
many fish both anglers caught. The host and crew concluded taping around 2 pm, saying this
would be one of their best shows for 2018. “Like” the Brushpile Fishing Facebook Page to know
