NW PA FISHING REPORT for August 10, 2017

This Report is brought to you by PA Great Lakes Region tourism with addi-
tional sponsorship from Wiegel Brothers Marine and GAMMA Fishing.

We answer the question “What’s biting in the lakes, stream and rivers of Crawford, Erie,
Mercer and Venango counties?”

French Creek – flowing through all four counties

Pete Cartwright @SmalliesontheYough.com; filed 8/7: Low clear water under sunny skies
is tough but we stayed the course. My client and I got into some fish on French Creek.
They were eating stick baits and tubes from 412 Bait Company. The bass were in shallow,
fast water waiting to pounce. The weather was great and so was the fishing. (See photos
above)

CRAWFORD COUNTY

Pymatuning Lake
Dave @ Richter’s Tackle; filed 8/8: The month of August traditionally sees the lowest
catches of walleyes and panfish of the year. This is catfish time – they are everywhere!
There are muskies being caught by the most dedicated. I’ve had a 45”, 44”, and 36” mus-
kies reported recently. Bass anglers are catching some largemouths. Walleyes are being
picked up here and there by trolling plugs, but only by the most hardcore experts.

Norm @ Jamestown Boat Livery; filed 8/8: Not much to report. It’s that time of the year.
There are lots of boats going out but not a lot of fish coming in. I saw a few walleyes on
Saturday taken from deep water. Some guys are casting blade baits to the deep structure,
after first removing the belly hook. I am hearing about some muskies, too. But the most
consistent bite is for catfish.

Vickie @ Duck-n-Drake; filed 8/8: We have not received a single catch report from cus-
tomers this past weekend.
