Conneaut Lake
Marilyn Black (Cochranton); filed 7/8: Darl and I spent most of Sunday on Conneaut Lake,
dodging pontoons, skiers and jet skiers…and catching crappies.
It took some time to find a defined deep weedline that had not
been molested by the aquatic herbicide they put in the lake. But
we finally got into some nice size crappies – my biggest was 13
inches. Crappies came on Bobby Garland Mo’Glo Baby Shad

Swimmer in Electric Chicken and a generic pink head/pink twist-
er body. We checked some areas for bluegills but only caught
one decent ‘gill – but a mess of tiny ones with some shorter
than a finger. Based on observation of early morning anchored
boats making repeated landings, it appeared there may have been some late spawning bluegills
on one gravel-topped mid-lake humps, but we didn’t want to impose.

Al Moore (Cochranton) reported catching several nice largemouth and
                                                   th
smallmouth at Conneaut during the 4 of July week. All his fish came
from 15 feet of water on big worms.

Dale Clemmer (Cochranton) reported catching largemouth bass, small-
                                                                             th
mouth bass and northern pike at Conneaut Lake during the 4 of July
        week. (See photos)

        Woodcock Creek Lake
Laurie @ Myers Sportsman’s Connection; filed 7/6: Anglers still picking up walleyes on leeches
at Woodcock Creek Lake. Also hearing reports that musky catch rate at Woodcock has been
        picking up in past week.

        ERIE COUNTY

        Lake Erie
Rich @ Erie Sports Store; filed 7/9: The report is more of the same for Lake Erie…walleye fishing
is outstanding and perch fishing is exactly the opposite. Walleyes are thick off Walnut Creek in
30 to 45 feet of water all the way West. They can be caught trolling, drifting and even jigging.
Walleyes are also being caught in 70 to 80 feet. They are catching walleyes on the East side of
town in 30 to 50 feet; off the Sunoco cribs and from the Point to the Lighthouse. Also off the

Lighthouse in 70 to 80 feet; those fish are suspended 20 to 30 feet down.

Mike @ Lake Erie Bait and Tackle; filed 7/9: Erie walleye fishing is off the charts! This is some
of the best fishing we’ve seen in many years. And the amazing thing is there are loads of wall-
