Well, our strange 2017 weather continues
well into fall with unseasonably warm sum-
mer-like temps. Good for prolonging some
bites not so good for other anticipate fall
bites. Steelhead season has been better than
expected so far, as well as hybrid striper bite
at Shenango. The river smallmouth bite has
been strong. But walleyes have been lacking
at most inland lakes. However it looks like the
weather is about to take a turn for to the cold
side. After the initial cold front shock, we
hope to see some great late fall bites before
the edge ice arrives. In the coming weeks, we
can anticipate improved crappie and walleye
fishing at Pymatuning, even better small-
mouth bite on the Allegheny and a pick-up of
walleye activity. Don’t forget the perch in
Jeff Barkley scores with big smallmouth bass on a trip PIB. And this is the best time for a big musky.
