                                                                The heat goes on! Yes, I know I’ve been harp-
                                                                ing about unseasonably warm weather for
                                                                late summer/early fall in the last few Reports.
                                                                Here we are, one full week into October and
                                                                experiencing a string of humid 80 degree
                                                                days. Okay, the weather bureau is calling for a
                                                                major cool down by the weekend. But right
                                                                now our inland lake temperatures are around

                                                                10 degrees above normal. Some anglers have
                                                                even reported an increase in lake water tem-
                                                                peratures given the heat. Fortunately, the Al-
                                                                legheny River is kicking out smallies and She-
                                                                nango Lake offers a decent bite for bass,
                                                                stripers and crappies. Steelheads that  arrived
                                                                a bit early at the creek mouths are now

                                                                starting to move upstream. But we need cool-
                                                                er inland water temps for the fall bite to real-
                                                                ly turn on. Let’s hope the “cooling” lingers
                                                                and doesn’t immediately turn into early snow
                                                                storms.
