The Landing Net by Darl Black

It happens every year at this time. As the summer bite fades, anglers look forward to cool-
er water of fall to turn fish on. By reading the reports from tackle shops, it’s apparent
some anglers have simply quit fishing temporarily due to less than ro-
bust fish activity. This will turn around later in September or early Oc-
tober on the more popular waters in the area, including Lake Erie,
Pymatuning Lake, Lake Wilhelm, Shenango Lake and the Allegheny
River. In the meantime, it’s the perfect time to investigate waters you
normally do not fish. Perhaps a trip to Edinboro Lake, Lake LeBoeuf,
Conneaut Lake, Canadohta Lake, Justus Lake or other smaller bodies
of water. I’ve found that exploring different waters with rod in hand
often leads to unexpected but pleasant outcomes.
