After a rough start to the ice fishing season
with up and down temperatures, the steady
cold of late January put solid ice on our lakes.
Based on photos and reports sent in for this
report, it has turned out to be a very good
season – even if it came a bit late. This is the
best toothy critter ice season I can every re-
member – check out the pike, musky and
chain pickerel photos inside But looking at
long range forecast, safe ice may be coming
to an end. Warmer than usual temps for last
weeks of Feb and forecast of lots of rain
(rather than snow) for the first couple weeks
of March will likely be the kiss of death for
Roger Jenkins (pictured here) and fishing buddy Kris Miller the hardwater anglers…but a big celebration
are a special kind of crazy. They fish for the biggest toothy
for open water anglers!
critters through the ice and successfully land them!
